Those benefits are not automatic. Procurement may be slow, priorities may change and the startup may worry about sharing sensitive information. Before investing, both sides should clarify whether the relationship involves a pilot, commercial contract, joint development or simply a financial stake—and who owns any jointly created intellectual property.
