Revenue growth matters, but it does not prove a company is creating value. Expansion may require heavy discounts, expensive customer acquisition or investments that take years to earn a return.

Boards should examine growth alongside margins, cash generation, returns on invested capital, retention and balance-sheet strength. Leaders must ask whether new customers are profitable and whether the operating model can scale. The discussion should move beyond how fast the company is growing to whether growth makes it stronger.
